New Years Eve Glitter Nails

It is New Years Eve in two days which you probably already know and because of that I wanted to show an easy sparkly nail design that I think is perfect. This is something that anyone can do and I got my inspiration to it from this video I saw on FeelUnique's facebook page.

What I did is slightly different. Obviously I used different colours but I also never used a metallic polish on the very tip of the nail as she did in the video.

To get the gradient effect with the glitter I first used a silver glitter and applied it on the tip, then once that had dried and went in with one more layer and went a little further in on the nail and then I went a little further on the nail with a third layer. I wanted all this glitter to blend into my nail more so lastly I used a holographic glitter all over the nail.

Of course you can do this with any base colour and glitter as you would like. I did it with these colours because I wanted something that would look wintery, like when the sun hits the snow and makes it sparkle.

What do you think of these nails?

Gold Party Makeup

It is the 1st of December today for anyone who might have missed that and that means that Christmas parties and cozy Christmas nights with friends and family might start to happen. I had a Christmas night with a few friends last saturday and this is the makeup I wore. I didn't want something too dark with the eyeshadows and I didn't want much happening under the eyes either. I think this is a really wearable look that you could wear both day and night time and you can wear it with any colour lip. A red lip would make it much more Christmassy!

As you can see the colours are not that dark but the winged eyeliner makes the look a bit more dramatic. The eyeshadows are from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar and the Urban Decay Vice 2.

  • 1, I used this colour all over the lid up till the eyebrow to make a nice base to work on and to set my primer which was the Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
  • 2, I applied this matte brown colour in the crease with a fluffy blending brush.
  • 3 & 4, I mixed there two gold shades and applied it on 2/3 of the lid.
  • 5, Lastly I applied this dark gold/brown shade on the the outer part of the lid and then I blended everything out.

What do you think of this look? How do you like to do your makeup for parties?

Current Base & Eyebrow Routine

I have been using the same products for my base for maybe one or two months now and I really like how they look on my skin. They make a pretty flawless yet natural looking base which I love. It only takes a few minutes to do so for the days when I have spent a little too much time in bed and don't have time to do a full face of makeup this is what I do. I hardly ever change the products I use for my base in order to get ready faster, I just skip the eyemakeup instead. The only time I change my base is when I want something a bit more natural with a bit less coverage.

I don't alway use a primer under my makeup, sometimes I forget, but I prefer to use one. I used the The Body Shop Instablur up until just a couple weeks ago but I can tell my skin is getting dryer now and that one doesn't work for my skin anymore so I gave it to my sister who has more oily skin. The primer I use now, which I have used before and really like when my skin is normal to dry is the Lumene Illuminating and Smoothing Primer. It does what it says and makes foundation goes on nicely even on the slightly dryer patches.

For foundation I'm using the Bourjois Healthy Mix in Light Vanilla. This is a quite dewy foundation that I would say probably works best for people with normal to dry skin but I have seen people with oily skin using it as well so maybe it works for most skin types? It has a medium to full coverage in my opinion and I really like that, especially now when it's getting colder and I can get a bit red on my cheeks as nose.
To apply my foundation I will either use the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge or the E.L.F. Powder Brush. Which one I use depends on how much time I have. It takes longer when I use the sponge but I really like the natural result it gives so I will use it when I have time. The E.L.F. brush is a great buffing type brush for a great price.

Now for concealer I use MAC Pro Longwear in NC15. It has good coverage, lasts for a long time and everyone love it. I usually apply it with my finger and start to blend it and then I will go over to the sponge if I used to for foundation, and if I didn't I use the E.L.F. Blush brush for my concealer.
(I used the sponge for both foundation and concealer in the picture above)

My Powder is also one that many people love. Rimmel Stay Matte in Transparent. I do like this powder but it's a bit too matte for me right now so I have to be a bit careful with it or it could look a bit cakey on my skin. I use the Bubbi Powder brush with it which is quite big so that makes it easy to not apply too mush.

That was my skin, now over to eyebrows!

I use the Wet N Wild Ultimate Brow Kit in Ash Brown with the Zoeva 317 Winged Liner Brush to fill them in and I just follow their natural shape. Then I have recently started using the Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Brown to set them in place. I like doing that because it gives them more shape in a really natural way.

Have you tried any of these products? What products do you use?

My Favourite Manicure All Year Around

I am someone who usually changes how I do my makeup and what colour I have on my nails depending on the season, but I do have a manicure that I love wearing regardless of the season.

I think these colours suits my skintone both on the winter when I'm pale as a ghost and on the summer when I have somewhat of a tan. I also think these colours go well with any season. The blue is a really nice kind of pastel colour but not really that I think most people would say is a great spring/summer colour. But since it's not too in your face I think it's a great colour for the dark autumn and winter months when you want something to brighten up your life. (Yes, your nail polish will change your whole life!..) The silver ads that something extra and on the summer it reminds me of the sunlight hitting the waves in the water and makes it shine. On the winter it reminds me of the sunlight hitting the snow and makes it sparkle.

Beauty Haul # 1

I don't think any of these products were necessary to buy, but what is necessary can be questioned.
I don't really need a dry shampoo but I want one because I don't like to wash my hair too often. So when I only wash my hair two times a week it is necessary to use dry shampoo sometimes to make my hair look nice instead of greasy.
I don't really need a colour bomb mask thing for my hair but I wasn't completely happy with my hair colour so then I needed something to change it.
Do you see what I mean? I don't really need it but I'm making up a reason that makes it sound like I need it. This is something that I do quite often and it's not always good. I makes me spend money that I maybe shouldn't spend.

But let's not care about the money I shouldn't spend and look at what I bought instead. That's more fun!

Firstly I got a new dry shampoo and I went for my favourite one; Batiste Dry Shampoo Fresh. I like this one because it has a nice fresh sent which I really like when my hair is starting to look and feel a bit greasy. I also gives a bit of volume and texture and even though my hair is dark you can't see the product in my hair once I have massaged it in!

I needed a new eye cream both because I don't really like the one I'm currently using and I'm almost out of it. Eye creams are something that can often be quite expensive but this one has a really reasonable price so I got it even though I haven't heard anything about it before. You are probably wondering what this eye cream is called now, it is the Emma S. Moisturising Eye Gel. The fact that it has a gel consistency, as well as the price, was what made me want to try it.

As I said in the beginning of this post I was not totally happy with my hair colour the last time I dyed it so I got this Revlon Professional Nutri Color Creme in 200. This is a hair mask but with colouring in it that is made to be used to refresh your hair colour. It is not a hair dye and the colour only lasts for one or maybe two washes. I used it when I washed my hair yesterday and I really like it! It still didn't make my hair the purplish shade I want but I like the colour after I used it more than the colour my hair was before, so it gets a thumbs up from me.

I was looking for a nude lip product that I mostly want to use to nude out other lip products I have. Then I thought about the Rimmel Apocalips so I got one in the colour Shooting Star. This is a nude shade that probably suit people with a darker skin colour better if you use it on its own. But it works good for me to nude out other products and that is what I wanted it for anyway.

Lastly we have the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge that I have been wanting to try for so long and now I finally got it! I think it takes a little getting used to for me since I have only used brushes for foundation before but so far I like it.

High End Makeup Wishlist

The only high end makeup product I have is the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, but I can tell you there are many more high end products I want! I will probably not have the money that makes me feel like I can go out and buy expensive makeup without feeling a bit guilty for some time. But a girl can wish, right?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
Can you see how beautiful this is?! I would want it just to look at to be honest. From the swatches I have seen they look lovely on the skin as well and I would be a really happy girl if I owned this.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
This one doesn't seem as exciting after the blushes but this is one that I have wanted for a long time now and I know I will buy it when I out of my MAC concealer (which will take quite a few months). I have only heard good things about it and concealers are something that I feel like you get what you pay for. Of corse there are some good drugstore concealers too but from my experience the high end ones are just better.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté
I don't even know what colour I want this in. I just want it to have it. And the biggest reason to why I want it is probably the beautiful packaging. But can you blame me?

Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade
I would like to try both this and the Brow Wiz but since I have never tried a product like the Dipbrow I find it more interesting. The thing that keeps me from buying it right now is the price and I can't decide if I think 'Chocolate' or 'Dark Brown' would be better for me.

Those are four high end makeup products that I'm really interested in right now.
What would you want to try that you can't afford? Or what are your favourite high end products?

Purple Cut Crease

I cut and dyed my hair two weeks ago and can I just say how good it feels to change your hair sometimes?
My hair is not what this post is about but I wanted to mention it because it was the colour of my hair that inspired me to do this look. Or the colour I was hoping it to be. It is more red and less purple than I hoped but it looks almost black in pictures. I used the Schwarzkopf Brilliance in 899 Red Violet when I dyed it but since mt hair was red before it turned out more red than purple.

A dramatic cut crease, quite strong contour and dark purple lips. Obviously this isn't really an everyday makeup but I had so much fun doing it and I am really happy with the result.

Of course there are things I could improve.
- I don't think I have done a this dramatic cut crease before so it was quite hard to see where to do the line and I think this is something that needs practice to become really good at.
- The lip line could be better and sharper but I already knew that I'm not the best with lip liner so that's not a surprise.

So even though I know what I want to improve I'm so pleased with this look! And I love doing these kind of more creative looks.

I don't remember exactly what products I used but I think it was mostly eyeshadows from the Sleek Ultra Mattes V2 and Urban Decay Vice 2 on the eyes, I know I used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk on my eyelids and both the lipliner and lipstick are from IsaDora. The lipliner is in the colour Zinfandel and the lipstick in Sweet Lilac.

The Coziest Time Of the Year

I have always said that summer is my favourite season of the year, both because of the nice hot weather and because my birthday is in August. But if I'm going to be completely honest I have to say that fall is my favourite time. There are a few reasons why and they are as follow:

  • Cardigans, layering and cozy clothes. Fall clothes are the best if you ask me. I always like to dress comfortable but still nice and fall is the perfect season for that. What have found myself wearing a lot lately is tights, high waisted shorts, a t-shirt or tank top and a big cozy cardigan. And I love it.

  • Tea and Harry Potter. I love both tea and the Harry Potter movies but it's just so much nicer to snuggle in a cozy blanket with a cup of vanilla green tea and watch a movie while it's cold and rainy outside compared to a hot sweaty summer day when you nighter want a hot beverage or snuggle in a blanket.

  • Smokey eyes. I'm a type of person who changes my makeup seasonally and I always like how I do my makeup at the time. But on the fall I feel like I can do so much more with it and be more creative. I'm not sure why but that is how it is for me. Now when it starts to get dark around 16.00 and it's cold I love smokey eyes and with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette that I showed in a previous post I feel like there is so many different looks I can do and I love it! (I'm also waiting to get the Urban Decay Vice 3 in the mail).

  • Christmas. Do I have to say more? I'm a christmas lover but what I love about it is more the wait for it than when it's actually here. Of course I love seeing all my relatives and all the food and giving and receiving gifts. But to listen to Christmas music, looking at all the christmas decorations in the shops, buying presents and everything else is easily the best part about christmas for me! So as someone who usually starts to secretly listen to christmas music in the end of September I would say that Christmas is more a fall than winter holiday for me.

Bronzing

I am really pale and therefore I used to think that I can not use bronzer because it will never look natural or good on my skin. I now take that back. Now I bonze most days when I wear makeup.

Since this is something I haven't done for that long I can only say that I have tried one real bronzer and that is the E.L.F. Cool Bronzer. When I say "real bronzer" I mean a product that is actually called "bronzer". I have the Sleek Face Contour Kit which contain a contour powder and a highlighter and I have tried to use that one as a bronzer but it didn't work for me, so that one I will only use for contouring.

I also feel like I have found the perfect brush to use with my bronzer and that is the EcoTools Large Powder Brush. As you can see on the pictures it is a bit flat, it is not completely round is most powder brushes and I think that is why I love it for bronzer. I makes it so easy to get the product where you want it. If you hold the brush one way you will get it on a larger area och if you hold it the other way you will get it on a slightly smaller area. This brush also blends out the bronzer really nice.

The E.L.F. Cool Bronzer isn't super cold toned but it is cooled toned enough to be used on a fair skin like mine without looking orange and fake.

Here I have  the bronzer on the left picture so you can see how it looks and the difference between wearing and not wearing bronzer. As you can see it looks really natural but it still makes a difference.

Everyday Makeup?

I'm going to be honest with you. I do not have an everyday makeup. I used to do it the same every day with a softly defined crease and a winged eyeliner. But now I do it differently almost everyday. And I like that. I feel more creative with my makeup now and I think it makes it more fun to not do the same thing over and over again every day.

Everyday makeup? No.

But I do use the same eyeshadow palette most days and that is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar. That palette is a really good neutral palette with warm toned shadows. I have a feeling the darker reddish shadows will be very well loved now during the fall.

This is how I did my makeup today. I used the light matte brown in the crease, the gold all over the lid and the dark brown with a bit of a green hint (upper left hand corner) on the outer third of the lid. Then I used a black pencil on my lover and upper waterline to get more smokey look.
The lipstick is from MaxFactor in the colour Stardust Pink.

1950's / Pin Up Girl

I'm not really one who likes to dress up. I love doing the makeup, but when it comes to the costume I'm not to found of it. So for a Halloween night at a friend I decided to go as a 1950's / Pin Up Girl because I have clothes what works good for that look. I don't have any photos of the outfit but I wore this black and white striped jumper, high waisted jeans shorts and black tights.

The makeup is what I would wear on a normal day except for the red lip and the hair was actually quite easy to do. I curled it all in the same direction (with the barrel horizontally under the hair) then I pinned the curls to let them set so that the curls will hold longer. For the bangs I first backcombed them and then I rolled up the hair and pinned it in place. Because it was curled already it was easy to get it in shape. Then I took this bandana thing I have because I like how that looks.

Yes, I took this picture in the bathroom. It was dark outside so in the bathroom was where the lighting was the best.

Welcome Here!

Hello!
I'm Sandra, a 19 year old girl from Sweden who loves makeup and beauty.
I already had a blog, lndnbeauty.blogspot.com, but I haven't uploaded anything there in a while and about two weeks ago I created an Instagram where I only upload pictures of makeup looks and other beauty related things. That account is called MSandraMakeup and now I felt like I wanted a blog as well but I didn't want to keep going on the old one. Both because I wanted it to have the same name as the Instagram and I also wanted to start over.

So here it is! My new beauty blog. I hope you will like it and take a look at my Instagram if you want. Just click the icon on the side!
